802.11 is a protocol family governed by IEEE, it’s about wireless communication standard by which people can connect their computing devices without the need of wires. Most popular standard of 802.11 families include 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11a and forthcoming 802.11n. Wi-Fi is short for “Wireless Fidelity” . Wi-Fi Alliance is a non-profit organization promoting the usage of 802.11 technologies. Wi-Fi certification encompasses numerous different standards, including 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, WPA, and more, and equipment must pass compatibility testing to receive the Wi-Fi mark. |
